A Ph.D. student on TikTok has refuted a misleading statement made by an English government official regarding energy sustainability.

The official suggested that coal, being organic plant matter that has undergone natural modifications over millions of years, should be considered as sustainable as biomass.

While this argument is not uncommon in energy politics, it has been debunked by TikTok user and Ph.D. student Rosh (@all_about_climate). The English politician in question, Lee Anderson, a conservative Member of Parliament who recently joined the Reform Party, has faced criticism for spreading misinformation about climate science and obstructing efforts to mitigate harmful pollution.
