The drama culminated in a court ruling by Superior Court Judge Scott McAfee, which allowed Willis and her office to continue prosecuting the case on the condition that Wade resigned from his position as special prosecutor. McAfee characterized Willis' conduct as a "tremendous lapse in judgment" and criticized the unprofessional manner of her testimony during the hearings.
