After receiving a legal complaint, the U.S. Office for Civil Rights' Education Department (ORC) initiated an investigation into a fellowship program at the University of Wisconsin-Madison that is accused of discriminating against White individuals.

William Jacobson, a law professor at Cornell University, confirmed that there is an ongoing ORC investigation into the fellowship program called "Creando Comunidad: Community Engaged Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) Fellows."

Jacobson said, "The opening of an investigation by OCR is an important first step in bringing accountability to the university for a program that on its face discriminates in favor of ‘BIPOC’ students, a racial and ethnic categorization."
